Aila vs. Addy AI: a buyer's guide for loan officers (2026)

Aila vs. Addy AI, compared for brokers and loan officers: where each one starts, what their agents do with documents, income, credit, and guidelines, how they treat borrower communication, plus integrations, pricing, and security.

The Short Answer

Both Aila and Addy AI run AI agents on mortgage files: document review, income calculation, credit and guideline checks. The difference is where they start and who talks to the borrower. Aila starts on the borrower call, scores every call for compliance, works the file from events, and drafts every borrower message for the loan officer to approve. It has public pricing from $50/user/mo and a 7-day free trial. Addy AI starts from the documents in the file, runs inside Encompass and MeridianLink, and offers AI that calls borrowers to request missing documents. Its pricing isn't published.

A year ago this was an easy comparison: Aila handled the call, Addy AI handled the documents. That's no longer true. Both now sell agents that review documents, calculate income, and prep the file for underwriting, so the honest comparison is about the details.

This guide is written for broker owners and small lenders. It covers where each product starts, what each one's agents actually do, how each treats the borrower conversation, and what each costs. Every Addy AI claim below comes from Addy's own public pages or press coverage, linked at the bottom and checked on October 15, 2026. Where Addy doesn't advertise something, we say that, not that it can't do it.

The short version

  • Where the work starts. Aila starts on the borrower call: the call becomes the application, the CRM record, and the needs list. Addy AI starts from the documents already in the file.
  • Who talks to the borrower. Aila keeps a human in every borrower conversation: it drafts emails in the loan officer's voice and the loan officer sends them. Addy AI offers an assistant that calls borrowers to request missing documents.
  • What the agents do. Both review documents, calculate income, and check the file against guidelines. Aila's agents also propose changes to the file itself and run on their own when something happens, like a call ending or a document arriving.
  • Where they run. Addy AI runs inside Encompass and MeridianLink, plus a Chrome extension for other systems. Aila connects directly to the LOS and CRM, with no browser extension.
  • Price. Aila publishes its pricing and offers a free trial. Addy AI is demo-led.

Who each one is for

Aila fits brokers and small lenders whose loans start on the phone. If your loan officers take applications on calls, want the file and the CRM updated without re-typing, and want every call checked for compliance, Aila is built around that day.

Addy AI fits teams whose main pain is file review after the application is in: income and asset analysis, guideline questions, conditions, and pre-underwriting, especially lenders already working in Encompass or MeridianLink.

Plenty of teams need both halves. The rest of this guide shows how far each product reaches into the other's territory.

The agents, one by one

Both companies call their products agents, so here is what each of Aila's agents does and where Addy AI offers something similar.

  • Intake Agent. When the call ends, it builds the application and needs list from what the borrower said, and writes the summary, tasks, and stage to your CRM. Addy AI doesn't advertise a call-to-application step.
  • Call Compliance Agent. It scores every call against your rubric, flags DNC requests, missed disclosures, and rate quoting, and shows leaders only the calls that need attention. Addy AI doesn't advertise call scoring.
  • Pre-Approval Agent. It labels every document, checks it against the needs list, calculates income with the method shown, flags large deposits, stale pay stubs, expired IDs, and new needs like a VOE or LOE, and drafts the borrower follow-up. This is the closest match to Addy's pre-underwriting agents.
  • Credit Review Agent. It reads the credit report next to the application and bank statements, and reports qualifying score, DTI, derogatory marks, debts missing from the application, and which items need a letter. It doesn't approve or deny. Addy AI also advertises credit review.
  • Bank Statement Income Agent. For self-employed borrowers, it calculates income from business bank statements, checks it against the tax return, and flags large and cash deposits.
  • Ops Prep Agent. It runs your SOP before underwriting: it checks the application against the documents and proposes each correction with the evidence, and flags a removed job or asset as high risk.
  • Ask Aila. Ask about your calls, team, or files, including guideline questions answered from FHA 4000.1 and the Fannie Mae Selling Guide with the section cited.
  • Custom agents. Enterprise teams can have agents built for their own workflow.

Humans talk to borrowers. AI does the busy work.

This is the biggest difference in philosophy between the two, and it's a real choice, not a feature gap to paper over.

Addy AI advertises an assistant that calls borrowers to request missing documents and offers 24/7 client support. If you want AI handling that outreach on its own, Addy offers it and Aila doesn't.

Aila doesn't put an AI voice between your borrower and your loan officer, on purpose. We believe people are the core of the mortgage process and will stay that way for the foreseeable future. Borrowers are making one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives, and they should be talking to a person who knows their file.

So Aila does the work around the conversation instead. Its agents stage the needs, draft the borrower email in the loan officer's voice from their own inbox, and line it up for one-click approval when a document arrives or a need opens. The loan officer stays the one the borrower hears from, without writing every email from scratch.

What happens on one file in Aila

  • The loan officer takes the discovery call on the phone they already use. Aila listens in the background.
  • At hang-up, the Intake Agent builds the application and the needs list, and the CRM gets the summary, tasks, and stage.
  • The Call Compliance Agent scores the call and flags anything leadership should hear.
  • The borrower email asking for documents is drafted in the loan officer's voice. The loan officer approves and sends it.
  • Documents arrive by email or text. The Pre-Approval Agent labels and checks each one, calculates income with the math shown, and flags what's missing or wrong.
  • Credit and bank statement reviews run where the file needs them, and the Ops Prep Agent checks the application against the documents before underwriting.
  • Every change an agent proposes shows the before value, the after value, and the evidence. Nothing changes until someone approves it, and changes can be undone.

Where Aila is stronger

  • It starts on the call: the application, needs list, CRM notes, and follow-ups come from the conversation, not from re-typing.
  • The Call Compliance Agent scores every call for DNC, disclosures, and rate quoting. Addy AI doesn't advertise call scoring.
  • It works with your phones: 12 dialers, the iPhone app, and meeting bots, in about 100 languages.
  • Agents run on events (a call ending, a document arriving, a stage change), so work happens on every file, not only the ones someone remembers to run.
  • Every borrower message is drafted for a person to approve and send. No AI voice calls your borrowers.
  • Every agent change shows the before value, the after value, and the evidence, and can be undone.
  • Public pricing and a 7-day free trial. Addy AI's pricing isn't published.

Where Addy AI is stronger

  • More named LOS coverage: it runs inside Encompass and MeridianLink.
  • AI that calls borrowers to request missing documents, for teams that want that outreach automated.
  • More distribution: a Chrome extension that works inside other systems, an AI email client, and a ChatGPT app for pre-underwriting.
  • Pricing tools through a Lender Price integration (July 2026).
  • Willow Processing, a done-for-you loan officer assistant and processing service powered by Addy AI (January 2026).
  • Published speed and accuracy metrics (self-reported).
  • A completed SOC 2 Type II audit, per Addy AI. Aila's Type 2 audit is in progress with Sentry Assurance.

Which one should you pick?

  • Your loans start on the phone and you want calls, the CRM, and the file handled together: Aila.

  • You want a person, not an AI voice, talking to every borrower: Aila.
  • You work in Encompass or MeridianLink and mainly want pre-underwriting inside it: Addy AI.
  • You want AI to call borrowers and chase documents on its own: Addy AI.
  • You want to try before talking to sales: Aila has a 7-day free trial. Addy AI is demo-led.

Plans and how to start

Basic ($50/user/mo, self-serve) covers the call: the full Intake Agent (the application, the needs list, and the borrower email from the call, plus summaries, tasks, and stage updates in your CRM) and the Call Compliance Agent. Start a 7-day free trial, connect your phone, LOS, and CRM, and your next call builds the file.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Aila an Addy AI alternative?

Yes. Both run AI agents on mortgage files. Aila is the better fit when loans start on the phone and you want calls, compliance, the CRM, and the file handled together. Teams that mainly want pre-underwriting inside Encompass or MeridianLink may prefer Addy AI.

Does Aila do pre-underwriting like Addy AI?

On Enterprise, yes. The Pre-Approval Agent checks every document and calculates income with the math shown, the Credit Review Agent reads the credit report for DTI and derogatory marks, the Bank Statement Income Agent handles self-employed income, and Ask Aila answers guideline questions from FHA 4000.1 and the Fannie Mae Selling Guide with the section cited. Aila doesn't approve or deny loans.

Does Aila call borrowers with an AI voice?

No, by design. Aila drafts borrower emails in the loan officer's voice for them to approve and send, so the borrower always hears from a person. Addy AI advertises an assistant that calls borrowers to request missing documents.

What's the difference between Aila Basic and Enterprise?

Basic ($50/user/mo) includes the full Intake Agent (the application, needs list, borrower email, and CRM updates from every call) and the Call Compliance Agent. Enterprise ($200/user/mo, 10+ loan officers) adds the document and income agents, credit review, guideline answers, and custom agents.

Can I use Aila from ChatGPT or Claude?

Yes. Bring your own ChatGPT or Claude subscription and connect it to Aila's MCP server to ask about your calls and files.

Is Aila SOC 2?

Aila's SOC 2 Type 2 audit is in progress with Sentry Assurance, and our AI providers keep zero data. See security for details. Addy AI announced a SOC 2 Type II report in November 2025.
